Rehearsal: sneak peek!

Geo and the Boys rehearse Sciurus Carolinensis. Here are a few minutes from that run-through. The Geologic Orchestra members behind the Maestro, left to right: Dale, Neil, Steve, Andy, Hotloaf on horns; Eric, drums; Ross, percussion; Vinnie, bass.

Thanks to Alisa B. for shooting a few minutes of footage for us. And thanks to Ross for use of his digs for the full-band rehearsal.

The promotional poster

Thanks to Maki‘s beautiful illustration, we were able to come up with a layout for an 11 x 17. The limited edition poster will be similar in design. This, however, is the poster that we’re putting up around town.

Thanks also to our friends at Christmas City Printing. {Geologic Universe Trivia: Christmas City Printing did all the offset litho for the award-winning Interrobang.}

Wayback Machine: Geologic Concert 1994

In which Geo inspires complete loyalty and affection from his orchestra.

From left: Nick Roberti, bass; Stephen Primatic, drums; Bob Noyales, percussion; John Francis, guitar; the Maestro, vocals and guitar; Neil Wetzel, sax; Lisa Sparks Silvius, french horn; Hugh Williamson, trumpet; Philip Gottshall, piano; Erin O’Donnell Lee, soprano sax.

This photo is from the Geologic archives and was taken after the first Geologic concert, Moravian College, November 1994. That was followed by a Geologic concert in 1995, also at Moravian College. The next concert didn’t occur until 2002 at the IceHouse, followed by performances in 2003, 2004, 2005, and the last in 2006.

The 2012 IceHouse concert will then be much like a tenth anniversary of IceHouse concerts. We hope to see you there!

It’s official — save the date!

George Hrab and the Geologic Orchestra will take the stage at the IceHouse on February 18, 2012 — or as we call it, the delightfully palindromic 21812. Geo hasn’t performed at this venue since 2006 and plans to make his return to that stage an enormously cool show.

We at Geologic HQ are in the early planning stages for everything from the show itself to ticket purchase to hotel accommodations and Bethlehem information. A LOT is going on despite all the “coming soon” notes on these new pages here.

We’ll keep you apprised of the details as they unfold via Geo on twitter, Ms. Info on twitter, the podcast and, of course, this page. What you might want to do now is 1- save the date and 2- subscribe to this site’s feed.

We hope to see you at the show!
